Heading north towards Cappoquin this is a 90 minute trip, in our tour boat Zingara, which can take up to 11 people per trip. Along the way you’ll learn about the unique human stories that have flowed with the river over many centuries, one highlight is the stunning view of Dromana House perched high up above the river on a rocky outcrop. Dromana House and Gardens has 800 years of family history and the unique architectural feature of a Hindu-Gothic Gate Lodge at Dromana Bridge. Other significant estates on this part of the river include Camphire House and Tourin House and Gardens. You’ll also experience and learn about the stunning landscape and ecology of the river, its geological formation, as well as its various habitats and species. The river is designated a ‘Special Area of Conservation’, protecting the otters, birds and fish that live within it. If you’re lucky, you might catch a glimpse of a perregrin falcon, a kingfisher or one of the several families of otters, you’ll certainly see Herons, Egrits and Cormorants who fish along the river banks.
